Dubai Women and Children’s Center Shines at Sikka Arts Festival

The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children is making a significant impact at the 14th edition of the Sikka Art and Design Festival. Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the festival takes place from January 23 to February 1 in the historic Al Shindagha district as part of the Dubai Art Season, themed “Visions of Dubai: Narrating Our Future Identity.” The foundation’s involvement centers around promoting the interactive game “Do You Know Me?” launched in mid-2024, showcasing a mural designed by Emirati artist Al Anoud Al Mehairi, along with an interactive platform for the audience to engage directly with the game.

Showcasing Emirati Talent

The foundation’s participation highlights the importance of homegrown creativity in promoting community engagement. The mural and interactive platform were crafted by Emirati hands, showcasing the rich talent within the local arts scene. This artistic endeavor not only enhances the visual landscape of the festival but also serves as a vehicle for storytelling, encouraging attendees to reflect on their identities and collective futures.

Engaging the Community

At the festival, the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children welcomes all attendees to take part in the experience. Participants can engage with the game’s mechanics, deepening their understanding and connection to both contemporary culture and social issues. By interacting with the mural and playing “Do You Know Me?”, visitors will have the opportunity to explore themes of identity while enjoying a playful yet meaningful connection with their surroundings.

Empowering Narratives

The overarching theme of the festival, “Visions of Dubai: Narrating Our Future Identity,” resonates deeply with the foundation’s mission to support women and children through empowerment and education. This collaboration emphasizes the importance of community narratives, using art as a tool for dialogue and personal expression. The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children aims to foster an environment where diverse voices can be heard, encouraging a sense of belonging and identity among all participants.

A Bright Future Ahead

As the festival progresses, the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children looks forward to continuing its pioneering work in the realms of art, culture, and community development. The themes explored during the Sikka Art and Design Festival serve as a reminder of the power of collaboration and creativity in nurturing a more inclusive society. By showcasing Emirati artistry and interactive experiences, the foundation reinforces its commitment to enriching the cultural tapestry of Dubai while celebrating the identities of its inhabitants.
