As part of its efforts to modernize the public transport system, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened the Smart Mall of the Emirates Bus Station, the first of its kind in Dubai. This pioneering step aims to enhance transport services by providing advanced digital technologies available around the clock, contributing to improved mobility efficiency and customer experience.
Features of the Smart Station
The Smart Mall of the Emirates Bus Station offers integrated services for 11 bus routes, directly connecting to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station. This connection enhances the integration of transportation modes, making it easier for residents and visitors to navigate various residential, commercial, and tourist areas in Dubai.
Vision for the Future
Matar Al Tayer, the Director General and Chairman of the RTA, emphasized that the opening of the first smart bus station marks an advanced step in the authority’s strategy to create an attractive environment for public transport users. Al Tayer stated, “We are committed at the RTA to improving customer service by employing the latest digital technologies.” This direction reflects the vision of the wise leadership aimed at making Dubai the ideal city for living and working.
Innovative and Smart Services
The smart station covers an area of approximately 147 square meters and accommodates 20 users at a time, with a dedicated rest area for drivers. The station features a main information screen that displays real-time arrival times for various transport modes and facility maps. It also includes a smart kiosk screen that offers digital services, including a virtual assistant for trip planning and lost-and-found services.
Advanced Technologies for Safety
The station is equipped with advanced devices for digital ticket purchasing and charging, as well as AI-supported cameras to ensure crowd monitoring and violation detection. Additionally, the station is fitted with solar panels for energy generation, supporting sustainability efforts and resource efficiency.
The Smart Mall of the Emirates Bus Station supports transport movements across 11 routes, including feeder lines for the Dubai Metro and other lines connecting key areas such as Al Barsha and Umm Suqeim. This station represents an important step toward developing and enhancing the public transport network in Dubai.
