Dubai World Expands Logistics Network with 700 New Trucks

Dubai-based logistics giant DP World has strengthened its regional freight network with the addition of 700 new trucks, a move designed to improve speed, reliability and supply-chain efficiency across the Gulf. The expansion underlines the company’s ongoing push to build a more connected logistics platform that links ports, warehouses, economic zones and digital systems under one integrated network.

DP World has acquired 700 new trucks to expand its overland shipping network across the Gulf Cooperation Council, offering customers greater reliability and efficiency when moving goods throughout the region.

The investment forms part of the group’s long-term strategy to build an integrated logistics network that connects ports, container terminals, economic zones and digital platforms, delivering end-to-end solutions across supply chains.

According to DP World, the new fleet will add as many as 35,000 truck trips a month, supporting domestic and cross-border transport for the company’s customers in GCC markets. The vehicles are designed to serve first-mile, mid-mile and last-mile requirements across the region, while also improving the movement of both containerised and non-containerised cargo.

Ahmed Yusuf Al Hasan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, said: “This step reflects our commitment to strengthening our multimodal network and supporting the growth of our customers’ businesses across the GCC. As demand in the region continues to rise, we are moving ahead with expanding our operational capabilities so we can provide them with an integrated and reliable logistics network that meets their needs at every stage of the supply chain.”

Ravin Julliani, Chief Operating Officer for Logistics at DP World GCC, said: “Our customers are looking for solutions that combine reliability, efficiency and sustainability in supply chains, and that is what our interconnected network of warehouses and ports delivers through its ability to move different types of cargo, including containers, vehicles and perishable goods.”

He added: “Our new trucks are fuel-efficient and comply with Euro 5 emissions standards, and we are exploring options for vehicles powered by energy generated from environmentally friendly sources in the next phase.”

DP World said the new trucks are being introduced gradually into operations, complementing the network’s existing fleet capacity, which currently reaches around 3,000 truck movements a day across the region.

In recent months, DP World has opened fast customs corridors linking the East Coast gates directly to Jebel Ali Port, established a customs corridor from Sohar in Oman, and made use of maritime routing options via the Red Sea through the Southern Container Terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port. Those measures have helped redirect more than 350,000 twenty-foot equivalent units overland following shipping disruptions.

The latest investment gives customers a broader, faster and more flexible road freight network, while also expanding door-to-door transport services and time-sensitive shipments, further strengthening logistics resilience across the GCC.
