Dubai Unveils Innovative Urban Cycling Pathway

A Wheely Exciting New Urban Cycling Route Has Just Opened in Dubai

In a thrilling development for cycling enthusiasts, Dubai has unveiled a brand-new urban cycling route that promises to revolutionize the cycling experience in the city. The innovative route, part of the city’s broader initiative to become the most bike-friendly urban environment globally, features impressive landscapes and engineered pathways that cater to cyclists, pedestrians, and scooter riders alike. This latest addition reinforces Dubai’s commitment to promoting cycling as an alternative mode of transport and recreational activity, making it a must-visit destination for those who love to ride.

Exploring Dubai’s Cycling Paradise

Dubai is already known for its vibrant cycling scene, featuring trails that weave through the city’s iconic skyscrapers, stunning beaches, and scenic deserts. Cyclists can enjoy routes like the Dubai Canal pathway with breathtaking views and the popular Kite Beach track that showcases the brilliant blue hues of the ocean. For those who prefer a more adventurous outing, the desert tracks present an exhilarating experience as they glide through golden dunes.

A New Era for Urban Cycling

With a vision to transform the city into a massive outdoor cycling space, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has been actively working on expanding cycling routes. The Dubai Cycle City 2040 project, part of the overarching Dubai Urban Master Plan, aims to secure Dubai’s status as “the world’s most bike-friendly city by 2040.” The new 13.5 km cycling track connecting Dubai Hills to Al Sufouh exemplifies this commitment. Although a final bridge crossing Sheikh Zayed Road is nearing completion, cyclists can expect to enjoy this route in its entirety soon.

Riding the New Route

Some eager cyclists have already taken to this track, ascending the bridge over Al Khail Road and setting personal bests on Strava. This new route creates further connections with existing cycling paths along Beach Road, allowing riders to explore even more scenic routes. A simple bike push from the Two Seasons hotel leads you onto Abdullah Omran Street, connecting seamlessly to Hessa Street and King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street.

Anticipating Future Adventures

Once on Beach Road, cyclists have the option to venture east toward Jumeirah, passing stunning landmarks such as Burj Al Arab and Kite Beach, or head into the Marina area, which offers its own extensive urban loop. While temperatures may rise as summer approaches, Dubai’s cycling community is accustomed to early mornings, enabling them to enjoy the new cycling route without the heat holding them back. It’s time to leave excuses behind and embrace the freedom of riding on this exciting new path.

“This track designated for cyclists, scooter riders, and pedestrians is part of the Hessa Street Improvement Project currently undertaken by RTA,” said His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority.

Keep your wheels rolling and experience the thrill of this wheely exciting new urban cycling route in Dubai. Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or just starting out, the opportunities for exploration and adventure are better than ever.
