Dubai Ascends as Top Hub for Wealthy Entrepreneurs

Dubai is increasingly establishing itself as a premier destination for the wealthy and business leaders from around the globe. With its competitive economic environment, flexible tax system, and appeal as a living and investment hub, it attracts high-net-worth individuals more than many traditional markets, including the United Kingdom. As a magnet for affluent expatriates and entrepreneurs, Dubai’s allure continues to grow, making it an indispensable focal point for wealth creation and business innovation.

Growing Attraction for Wealthy Individuals

Dubai maintains its reputation as a top destination for expatriates and entrepreneurs, thanks to its competitive economic landscape and flexible tax policies. Ryan Houssam, the billionaire founder of Stay Shore Insurance and a Dubai resident for four years, emphasizes that Dubai still captivates wealthy investors from all corners of the world. He notes that many British residents quickly returned to the emirate following a decrease in regional tensions, highlighting its strong appeal and stable economic environment.

Business-Friendly Environment

According to Houssam, the absence of personal income tax and the lack of capital gains tax in most instances significantly contribute to Dubai’s allure. These factors, combined with legislative stability and ease of doing business, have bolstered the city’s position as a global hub for wealth and investment. He criticizes UK Labour Party policies, arguing they do not support economic growth, particularly the increased National Insurance contributions and changes to inheritance tax that negatively impact small and family-owned businesses.

Return Movement to Dubai

Houssam points out that around 30,000 Britons left Dubai during peak regional tensions, out of approximately 250,000 British nationals residing in the emirate. However, a significant number have started to gradually return now that tensions have eased, reflecting expatriates’ ongoing confidence in Dubai as a secure and vibrant place to live and work.

Rising Investment Appeal

In conclusion, Houssam notes that Dubai’s business environment has allowed him to expand his investments, with the value of his company, Stay Shore, increasing to between £800 million and £1.2 billion following a share sale to ICG in 2024. He stresses that Dubai is no longer merely a destination for living; it has transformed into a global center for wealth generation, attracting entrepreneurs and investors seeking long-term stability and growth, especially as European markets face escalating tax and economic challenges.
