The Dubai Municipality has officially outlined the areas where shared housing is permitted, revealing a structured approach to the management of communal living in the emirate. This announcement is in line with the guidelines stipulated in the planning and construction regulations for shared housing, as per Law No. (4) of 2026, which governs the occupancy and management of shared housing in Dubai.
Approved Areas for Shared Housing
The list of approved areas is diverse and strategically placed throughout the emirate, with permission for shared housing divided into two categories: complete and partial. The areas designated for complete shared housing have been identified in 27 locations, including places such as Al Ras, Al Dhagaya, Al Bateen, and Al Sabkha, among others. These areas reflect varying landscaping and urban planning characteristics.
Complete and Partial Shared Housing Designations
The areas where complete shared housing is allowed include: Al Ras, Al Dhagaya, Al Bateen, Al Sabkha, Ayial Naser, Al Marar, Naif, Al Rigga, Al Muraqabat, Al Qusais, Hor Al Anz, Al Wahda, Al Rashidiya, Al Nahda (first), Al Qusais, Al Tawaar (fifth), Al Nahda (second), Al Muhaisnah (fourth), Souq Al Kabeer, Al Raffa, Al Karama, Oud Metha, Al Bada’a, Al Barsha (first), and Al Warqa (first).
Meanwhile, 16 areas are designated for partial shared housing, including neighborhoods like Al Baraha, Abu Hail, Port Saeed, Hor Al Anz East, Al Mamzar, Al Qusais Industrial (1 through 5), Al Hamriya, Um Hurair (first and second), Mankhool, Al Jafiliya, Jumeirah (first), and Al Satwa.
The Dubai Municipality has assured residents that further updates will be provided as additional areas receive approval for shared housing. This initiative aims to facilitate communal living while ensuring adherence to planning regulations and community standards.
