The Dubai International Marine Club has successfully concluded its 2026 modern sailing summer camp, showcasing its commitment to training a new generation of sailing enthusiasts. After a comprehensive four-week programme that included both practical and theoretical training, the event highlights Dubai’s role as a hub for developing marine and Olympic sports.
A Diverse Gathering of Young Sailors
The summer camp, which took place at Bulgari Beach in Dubai, attracted a diverse group of participants aged between six and 15 years. These young sailors came from various nationalities and cultures, all eager to learn the art of sailing. Under the guidance of a team of specialised Emirati trainers, participants engaged in an intensive training regimen that incorporated both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
Training and Assessment: A Comprehensive Approach
Throughout the duration of the camp, participants underwent rigorous training that equipped them with essential skills for operating sailing boats. The training encompassed safety equipment familiarisation, sailing principles, boat control techniques, manoeuvring, and changing directions. This thorough training approach was designed not only to build a strong technical foundation but also to prepare the young sailors for future participation in local and international competitions.
Recognition and Certification
At the conclusion of the programme, participants who met the camp’s requirements were awarded a Level One certificate in modern sailing. This recognition not only highlights their accomplishments but also signifies their readiness to progress to more advanced sailing levels in the future.
This initiative by the Dubai International Marine Club exemplifies the club’s dedication to promoting sailing as a sport and developing skills in youth, reinforcing Dubai’s distinguished status in marine sports.
