Dubai Launches Comprehensive Economic Survey to Boost Key Sectors

The Dubai Data and Statistics Authority, part of the Dubai Digital Authority, has launched the Economic Survey for 2025, aiming to encompass various sectors and capture vital business activities. This comprehensive initiative marks a significant step in gathering updated data and metrics that reflect the evolving economic landscape of the emirate.

Objectives of the Economic Survey

The Economic Survey aims to deliver crucial data and indicators that highlight the contributions of economic activities to the emirate’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The findings from the survey will play a pivotal role in developing a cohesive economic framework that reinforces vital activities, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Dubai’s business environment.

Implementation Process

The survey will be conducted through multiple channels, including an electronic form, and will feature field visits to various private sector establishments within the target sample. The authority encourages collaboration by requesting that participants provide the necessary data according to the approved statistical form.

Coverage Across Diverse Sectors

This Economic Survey incorporates an extensive range of sectors, such as industry, agriculture, health and education, technology and information, financial activities, insurance, trade, real estate, transportation, construction, services, culture and arts, as well as hotels and restaurants. Additionally, it aims to represent all free trade zones within the emirate.

Insights from Dubai’s Leadership

Younis Al Nasser, the CEO of the Dubai Data and Statistics Authority, emphasized the critical role of data in supporting decision-making and strategic planning. He stated, “In light of the rapid transformations brought about by data digitization and artificial intelligence, the central role of data has become essential. Economic surveys are crucial inputs for measuring economic performance, particularly the GDP and economic indicators that reflect the realities of economic activities in the emirate.”

Al Nasser added, “This Economic Survey is part of our efforts to enhance the resilience and competitiveness of Dubai’s economy by providing updated, comprehensive databases across various vital sectors. We hope the outcomes of this survey will serve as a foundational knowledge base that enables decision-makers to anticipate opportunities and tackle challenges effectively, thereby supporting a more prosperous and sustainable economic future.”

He further noted, “This survey embodies a key component in supporting the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to establish Dubai as a global economic capital by providing accurate data to measure economic indicators, especially the emirate’s GDP. It underscores the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors.”

Al Nasser concluded, “We encourage all stakeholders to actively participate in the survey by providing financial data, assuring them that we are committed to maintaining confidentiality and privacy in accordance with established protocols.”
