Recently, Dubai Customs achieved a significant milestone by obtaining global recognition for its forward-thinking strategies, making it the first customs authority in the region to receive this prestigious accreditation. This advancement underscores its commitment to future readiness and innovative practices.
Dubai Customs announced its accomplishment, highlighting its prowess in adopting future-oriented concepts and strategic planning. The accreditation, awarded by the Global Institute for Management Innovation (GIMI), reflects the rigorous efforts of the organization to cultivate a culture of foresight and enhance its readiness for the future.
The official presentation of the accreditation certificate took place during a meeting between the leadership of Dubai Customs and representatives from GIMI as well as SIA Partners. Dr. Abdullah Bousnad, the Director General of Dubai Customs, received the certification in recognition of the institutional efforts made towards establishing a solid groundwork for anticipatory governance.
Dr. Bousnad noted that this achievement exemplifies Dubai Customs’ dedication to strengthening its future readiness. He emphasized the shift from a reactive approach to a proactive methodology rooted in analysis and long-term planning. This strategy supports sustainable performance and robust adaptability to rapid transformations in the global customs environment and supply chains.
He pointed out that foresight has become a fundamental pillar of the government’s operational framework, serving as a crucial tool for empowering organizations to make more agile and informed decisions, thereby enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness and global leadership.
Dr. Bousnad indicated that this accreditation crowns the Future Foresight Program launched by Dubai Customs, aimed at establishing a comprehensive institutional framework to monitor global trends, analyze variables, and anticipate relevant future scenarios within the customs sector.
The program incorporated the development of a complete operational framework and methodology, as well as the training of specialized national teams within the “Future Foresight Ambassadors” group. Additionally, it included the preparation of future studies and scenarios in vital areas such as trade facilitation, inspection and shipping operations, passenger processing, border security, and future logistics services.
Moreover, Adil Al Suwaidi, Director of Strategy and Institutional Excellence, stated that this milestone confirms Dubai Customs’ status as a leading example in adopting the best global practices in future foresight. It also supports the efforts of the Dubai government in creating a flexible governmental framework capable of meeting demands, generating opportunities, and enhancing future readiness in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
