Dubai’s Chamber of Commerce recently convened a meeting with a delegation from the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce to explore avenues for enhancing commercial and investment cooperation between Dubai and Colombia. The meeting, held at the chamber’s headquarters, was attended by Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, the Director General of Dubai’s Chambers.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The discussions focused on fostering connections between private sector companies and supporting sustainable growth in bilateral trade relations. Lootah highlighted the strategic importance of close coordination, emphasizing the need to build upon the solid foundations of existing ties. He expressed the commitment of Dubai’s Chambers to elevate trade relations between the emirate and Colombia, aiming to bolster mutual interests and support the growth of trade and investment flows.
Competitive Advantages of Dubai
During the meeting, the competitive advantages of Dubai as a global business hub were also reviewed. Key benefits for investors included a supportive business environment, advanced infrastructure, and flexible regulations. Additionally, Dubai’s Chambers are committed to assisting Colombian investors keen on seizing diverse investment opportunities available in the emirate, facilitating their expansion efforts.
Growing Economic Ties
This encounter comes at a significant time, as trade relations between Dubai and Colombia are flourishing, with non-oil bilateral trade reaching AED 4 billion in 2025, marking an impressive 97.4% year-on-year growth. By the end of last year, the number of active Colombian companies registered with the chamber had risen to 173.
Establishment of Representation in Bogotá
In 2024, Dubai Global Chamber—one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai’s Chambers—opened a representative office in Bogotá. This initiative is aimed at developing links and partnerships between the business communities of Dubai and Colombia while promoting the emirate’s competitive advantages as a global business destination. The office also provides valuable insights to help Colombian businesses establish a foothold in Dubai, as well as offering support to Dubai-based companies looking to expand into the Colombian market. This includes specialized market insights, identification of significant business and investment opportunities, and connecting companies with reputable local partners to ensure smooth market entry and sustainable growth.
