In a pioneering humanitarian initiative, Dubai Humanitarian has become a focal point in efforts to combat the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The organization sent an air shipment of 20 tons of biomedical supplies in response to the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. This step aims to enhance collaborative efforts to fight the virus, which requires a coordinated and swift response.
Shipment Departure from Dubai
The shipment departed from Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai World Central, to address the immediate needs of hundreds of patients. These supplies are expected to support around 280 healthcare facilities for up to four weeks. The shipment includes multi-purpose tents, sterilization materials, personal protective equipment, thermometers, and other medical supplies that bolster efforts to combat Ebola.

Giuseppe Saba, the Executive Director of Dubai Humanitarian, noted that the organization is committed to active participation with the international community in addressing these health crises. He stated, “As Ebola cases continue to rise, Dubai Humanitarian supports its members in the rapid response to this crisis by facilitating the transport of life-saving aid.” He emphasized the importance of coordination among various stakeholders to ensure that vital supplies reach the communities in need.

Dr. Hanan Balkhy, the Regional Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean, expressed her gratitude to Dubai Humanitarian, highlighting the significance of international cooperation during critical times.
