His Highness Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, has said that “UAE Unity Day” stands as an inspiring historical milestone, reflecting the grandeur of nation-building, the strength of will and the steadfast determination first shaped by the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his fellow Rulers of the Emirates, “may they rest in peace”. Together, they united their hearts around a covenant of unity and solidarity, and laid the foundations of an exceptional nation moving forward with confidence towards the future.
A historic turning point in the Union’s journey
Marking the occasion of UAE Unity Day, His Highness said 18 July 1971 was the historic turning point that launched an exceptional national project, embodying the depth of determination and the sincerity of belief in the future. It was the covenant the Founding Fathers made with themselves that this land would remain united in its will and proud of its people. That covenant, he said, is the trust carried today in the nation’s hearts, and one that continues to be translated into a living reality through relentless work, firm development and distinguished achievements.
Security, stability and progress built on sacrifice
His Highness added that the security, lasting stability and comprehensive renaissance enjoyed by the UAE today are the fruit of the covenant upon which the nation’s journey was founded, the firm will carried by the Founding Fathers, and the great sacrifices made by the loyal sons of the Emirates, led by the nation’s righteous martyrs, who inscribed the noblest meanings of loyalty with their blood and helped safeguard the Union’s gains and protect its achievements.
A future guided by the values of the Union
He noted that the UAE continues its journey with confidence and steadiness towards the future under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, “may God protect him”, drawing from the values of the Union a firmly rooted approach to building tomorrow, and placing people at the heart of development and its ultimate goal.
