In celebration of Eid Al-Adha, Dubai Culture, known as «دبي للثقافة», is launching a series of events and experiences that honor the rich heritage of the UAE. These initiatives are part of the authority’s broader mission to promote community engagement and cultural awareness, aligning with the “Eid in Dubai” campaign under the “Wulfa” season. This initiative aims to strengthen family ties, celebrate local traditions, and enhance social values, fostering a spirit of generosity and togetherness within the community.
Creative Initiatives and Heritage Celebrations
In honor of Eid, «دبي للثقافة» has partnered with Dubai Frijans Foundation to unveil the song “عطونا عيدية,” inspired by local traditions. This updated rendition, accompanied by an animated video produced by HBKA, encapsulates the festive spirit and essence of the “Wulfa” season. The animation captures the intricacies of celebrating Eid within Emirati families, employing a contemporary visual style that evokes warmth and nostalgia. Originally performed by artist Mohamed Al-Mazem in the 1990s, the song aims to connect younger generations with the customs and traditions of Eid in a uniquely creative way. The refreshed version features artists Ghmeila Al-Ketbi, Ammar Al-Shahi, Heya Al-Shamsi, Anoud Al-Shamsi, Faris Fairooz, and Rose, all under the direction of Ibrahim Al-Ayadi, with Abdulrahman Al-Muraisi at the helm of direction and Ahmed Al-Ridwan handling the musical arrangement.
Activities at the Shindagha Museum
From May 28 to May 31, the Shindagha Museum, the largest heritage museum in the UAE, will offer visitors an array of cultural activities rooted in authentic Emirati customs. One of the highlights is the “Eid Coffee” workshop, which provides a welcoming experience reflective of traditional Emirati gatherings and the associated values of hospitality and communication. Additionally, the “Eidiyah Trail” connects various houses and wings of the museum, allowing guests to explore Eid traditions in an interactive and modern format.
Creative Workshops and Family Activities
The Visitor Center will host several artistic workshops, including “Picture Weaving,” inspired by the museum’s landmarks, and a “Eid Dress Design” session based on traditional Emirati clothing. Visitors can also enjoy a workshop for creating “Eid Money Holders” using leather embossing techniques, along with a performance of “Ayyalah,” a popular folk dance. Meanwhile, the Union Museum invites families to participate in two engaging workshops from May 27 to May 29: “My Family and I” and “Create Your Culture Bag.” Guided tours will give visitors insight into the museum’s extensive archive, detailing the history of the nation’s formation and its national identity.
