Recently launched, the “Heritage Gamathon” initiative, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Electronic Gaming and Sports Association, aims to develop electronic games inspired by Emirati heritage. This exciting event, which concludes today at the Authority’s activities building in Abu Dhabi, represents a bold move towards blending tradition with technology in an engaging way.
Over three days, participants have engaged in a creative challenge, dedicating their skills to crafting electronic games that embody the essence of Emirati cultural heritage. These games aim to seamlessly merge authenticity with innovation, appealing to the digital generation through a modern lens.
Abdullah Batti Al Qubaisi, Executive Director of the Heritage Awareness and Knowledge Sector at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, highlighted that the “Heritage Gamathon” is an inspiring event that celebrates the history and authentic traditions of the UAE. He stated, “It reintroduces our heritage in a contemporary format that meets the aspirations of the digital age.” Al Qubaisi also emphasized that the rich Emirati heritage, passed down through generations, forms the fabric of national identity. More than 200 students are participating in the event, working to produce electronic games that reflect their creative abilities.
