Attacks on Saudi Arabia Threaten Gulf Security and Stability

In a recent statement, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the UAE President, underscored the profound implications of aggression towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, highlighting that such actions jeopardise the security of the UAE and all Gulf states. He emphasised the shared responsibility of Gulf security, emphasizing that it cannot be subjected to negligence or delay.

Shared Threats and Collective Security

Dr. Gargash took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to articulate his concerns, stating: “Since the onset of aggression against the Gulf Arab states, stemming from the assailant’s erroneous belief that we are the weakest link in a war we have sought to avoid, it has become clear that we are all targeted and that our security is indivisible. The targeting of our sister kingdom, Saudi Arabia, undermines the security of the UAE and all Gulf states.”

Call for Enhanced Cooperation

The diplomat stressed the urgent need to revitalise Gulf cooperative efforts, particularly in the areas of security and defence, to strengthen the framework of collective security. He noted that this dimension has been gravely neglected, which has emboldened others to act against the Gulf. “Gulf security is a shared responsibility that cannot afford to be taken lightly or postponed,” Dr. Gargash concluded.
