Artistry and Creativity Blossom in Al Ain: 7 Workshops

In a vibrant initiative aimed at nurturing creativity and artistic expression, the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural Centre organised seven artistic workshops under the theme “Brush and Artist” earlier this October. These workshops were executed under the guidance of Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions. Targeted at children, mothers, and young women, the workshops sought to uncover talents, develop creative skills, and enhance the presence of the arts within families and communities, aligning with the directives of “The Year of the Family” and enriching the cultural scene in Al Ain.

Engaging Artistic Experiences

The series of workshops included an engaging “Space Secrets” session conducted in collaboration with Shaikha Bint Sarour School, allowing young astronomers to explore the wonders of the universe. In addition, a “Art Composition” workshop was tailored for children, teaching them the fundamentals of balance in artwork.

Creative Expression for All Ages

In an empowering move, the initiative also featured the “My Special Touch” workshop, which encouraged mothers to express their unique creative insights. The programme catered to various age groups, exemplified by the “Dream Pillow” workshop designed for all participants, fostering inclusive artistic expression.

Innovative Art Techniques

Further enriching the agenda, attendees enjoyed the “Quilling Art” workshop, an exploration of paper-folding techniques, and the final sessions showcased the Japanese art of “Kintsugi,” where mothers and young women formed art pieces from fabric scraps without sewing. To engage younger participants, there was a clay-shaping workshop designed specifically for children, reflecting the centre’s vision of creating a stimulating environment that brings generations together in shared creative experiences.

Fostering a Creative Community

This initiative illustrates the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural Centre’s commitment to providing enriching artistic opportunities that promote understanding and appreciation of both local and global art forms. The “Brush and Artist” workshops not only aim to develop individual talents but also to cultivate a vibrant community spirit in Al Ain, making art accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
