Arab Government Excellence Award Honors Winners in Institutional and Individual Categories in Cairo
In a prominent event that reflects creativity and leadership in government work, the Arab Government Excellence Award honored winners in various institutional and individual categories during a grand ceremony held in Cairo. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, a group of administrative figures and officials gathered to highlight significant achievements in the Arab government. The ceremony underscores ongoing efforts to enhance government performance and promote innovation in the Arab world.
Celebrating Innovation and Arab Competencies
The ceremony took place at the Arab League headquarters in the presence of Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Arab Government Excellence Award Board, and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, along with several ministers, officials, and representatives from Arab governments. The Arab Government Excellence Award, launched in collaboration with the Arab League in 2019, aims to honor governmental competencies and successful initiatives in the region, establishing them as exemplary models of positive leadership thinking.
Prestigious Awards and Rigorous Evaluation
This current cycle of the award included 26 winners selected from outstanding initiatives that provided innovative and inspiring government services. Awards were distributed across 16 categories, with a new category introduced: “Best Arab Initiative for Bureaucracy Reduction.” The evaluation process relied on a comprehensive and intelligent electronic system, with a specialized judging committee adhering to the highest global standards. Notably, the UAE was exempted from participation to ensure transparency and neutrality.
Impactful Words to Support Government Excellence
In his speech, Mohammed Al Gergawi emphasized the importance of the award as a means to develop government services and instill a culture of excellence. He pointed out that the governments that will stand out in the coming years are those that adopt a flexible mindset, capable of adapting to change and transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and development. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, expressed gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for his sponsorship of the award, commending the efforts made to promote best practices in government management.
Winners in Various Categories
The institutional awards featured numerous prominent winners, with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan receiving the title of “Best Arab Ministry.” The Heritage Commission in Saudi Arabia was recognized as the Best Government Authority, while the Jordan Customs Department was also among the winners. In the new category for Bureaucracy Reduction, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in Bahrain was honored for its innovative approach to providing housing services.
Individual category winners were also acknowledged, with Sultan bin Salim bin Said Al Habsi, Minister of Finance in the Sultanate of Oman, receiving the award for Best Arab Minister, while Dr. Ibrahim Saber Khalil, Governor of Cairo, was recognized as the Best Arab Governor. Additionally, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al Rajhi received the award for Best Director General of an Arab Authority.
