The National Center of Meteorology has recently revealed the climatic features of April, a month that marks the transition into spring. This season is characterized by significant variations and rapid changes in atmospheric pressure distributions, resulting in swift shifts in weather conditions. Highlighting the keyword “ارتفاع بدرجات الحرارة في أبريل وزيادة عدد ساعات النهار,” the report outlines how these climate changes impact the daily lives of residents.
Increased Daylight Hours
According to the center’s statement, the sun continues its apparent movement northward toward the Tropic of Cancer. This movement leads to a gradual increase in daylight hours in the northern hemisphere, alongside a steady rise in temperatures across many regions of the country. It is noted that temperatures during April are projected to increase by approximately 3 to 5 degrees Celsius compared to March.
Shift in Atmospheric Influences
The influence of the Siberian high is diminishing, making way for extensions of low-pressure systems in both the upper and surface layers of the atmosphere. These systems migrate from west to east, including influences from the Red Sea low-pressure area in the west and other extensions from the east. As these low pressures deepen, cloud cover is expected to increase in certain areas, presenting opportunities for rainfall.
Humidity and Fog Patterns
Throughout April, there is a slight decrease in relative humidity compared to March, particularly in the latter half of the month. However, the potential for fog and light mist remains, especially during the first half of the month, with a gradual decline in occurrences as the month progresses.
Temperature and Weather Statistics
The average temperatures for April typically range between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius, with maximum temperatures expected to be between 32 and 37 degrees Celsius and minimums from 20 to 23 degrees Celsius. The highest recorded temperature reached an astonishing 46.9 degrees Celsius in Al Ruwais in 2012, while the lowest recorded temperature was 5.0 degrees Celsius on Jebel Jais in 2013.
Wind speeds during April average around 13 kilometers per hour, with the highest wind gust recorded at 121.3 kilometers per hour on Jebel Hafeet in 2013. Additionally, the highest wind gust noted at Al Ain Airport was 137 kilometers per hour in 2003.
Fog Incidents and Precipitation
The average relative humidity for the month stands at approximately 43%, with maximum humidity levels ranging from 62% to 82% and minimums between 17% and 28%. The year 2015 saw the highest occurrence of fog in April, totaling 11 foggy days and 4 days of light fog. Regarding rainfall, the center reported that the highest precipitation recorded in April was 260.3 mm, occurring in the Khatm al-Shikla area of Al Ain in 2024.
This combination of increasing temperatures and prolonged daylight hours emphasizes the ongoing climatic evolution we experience each April, marking an essential transition into warmer weather.
