Ajman Launches Unique Shared Housing Initiative in Five Areas

The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has initiated a new project aimed at regulating and categorising residential buildings, particularly focusing on the housing of bachelors and shared accommodation. This initiative seeks to manage housing patterns, enhance building efficiency, and improve the safety and organisation of the residential environment in the emirate.

Trial Phase Launch in Priority Areas

The department announced the launch of this initiative along with the start of a trial phase that will cover five priority areas: Al Nuaimia, Al Rashidiya, Al Nakheel, Al Liwara, and Al Rumaila. The effectiveness of this trial will be assessed and refined based on the outcomes and the needs identified for subsequent phases.

Workshops for Real Estate Sector Engagement

An informative workshop was conducted for real estate companies operating within the emirate, detailing the new policy, its implementation mechanisms, and the criteria established for regulating bachelor and shared accommodations. The session also guided stakeholders on the process for submitting applications and benefiting from the new service.

Addressing Housing Challenges

Mohamed Abdul Wahab Mustafa, Director of the Municipal Control and Inspection Department, highlighted that the initiative aims to tackle challenges associated with bachelor and shared housing by establishing clear regulatory frameworks that strike a balance between community needs and urban planning requirements.

Defining Housing Categories

The initiative employs a specific methodology to classify buildings and regulate residential usage in accordance with approved standards, thereby improving compliance and enhancing the urban and housing environment. Additionally, it aligns with Ajman’s vision of creating a well-organised, secure urban space that enhances quality of life.

Clarifying Regulations for Bachelor Housing

The new policy delineates clear regulations and conditions for bachelor housing within designated frameworks, while also defining the concept of shared housing and its implementation methods. This clarity is expected to reduce unregulated housing practices and increase property utilisation efficiency.

Next Steps for Stakeholders

During the workshop, the department introduced an online portal dedicated to application submissions, providing real estate representatives with essential steps for using the service and submitting applications in preparation for the new regulations during the trial phase.

Engagement with Real Estate Representatives

The workshop saw participation from representatives of real estate companies in Ajman, where various inquiries regarding the new regulations and implementation processes were addressed. This interaction is part of a broader effort to strengthen partnerships with stakeholders and ensure that the new policy is applied within the established regulatory frameworks.
