ADNOC and XRG Strengthen Their Asian Energy Partnership

In a significant move to bolster their partnerships in the Asian energy sector, ADNOC and XRG recently participated in two major international events: the Asia-Pacific Petroleum Conference (APPEC) in Singapore and the GasTech Conference and Exhibition in Bangkok. These events highlight the growing role of the United Arab Emirates as a reliable partner in energy and industry across Asia.

Key Events in the Energy Sector

The APPEC is widely regarded as the premier gathering for the oil industry in Asia, attracting approximately 1,200 senior officials and decision-makers from 55 countries. These attendees represent various stakeholders throughout the global energy value chain. The conference, held in Singapore—a highly competitive global trade hub—provided ADNOC with a platform to showcase its extensive international presence, further reinforced by its commercial offices in Abu Dhabi and Geneva.

Networking and Strategic Outreach

The GasTech Conference and Exhibition served as a crucial venue for ADNOC and XRG to connect with partners, clients, and government entities involved in the energy sector. During the event, the booth was visited by notable figures, including His Excellency Akhanat Brumfov, Thailand’s Minister of Energy, and UAE Ambassador to Thailand, Obaid Saeed Obaid bin Tarish Al Dhaheri, who were welcomed by executives from both companies.

Strategic Vision and Integrated Marketing

ADNOC and XRG presented a comprehensive strategic vision for their clients, anchored in ADNOC’s reputation as a responsible and trusted supplier and marketer of oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and refined products. XRG, ADNOC’s international investment arm in the energy sector, primarily focuses on expanding its portfolio in gas and chemicals. Both companies emphasised their integrated strategy for marketing LNG, aiming to provide clients with a robust and unified access point to their expanding global LNG asset portfolio.

Announcement of Global LNG Platform

In July, ADNOC launched its global LNG marketing and trading platform in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, positioning the company favourably within this vital sector. This platform consolidates the marketing efforts of ADNOC Gas and XRG, alongside the commercial capabilities of ADNOC Trading, and aims to market up to 47 million tonnes of LNG annually by 2030 and beyond. This initiative is set to enhance global engagement and expand customer access to the growing LNG portfolio of ADNOC and XRG.

The Rising Importance of Asia in Global Energy Markets

Asia continues to assert its increasingly vital role in the global energy landscape, currently accounting for around 40% of worldwide crude oil demand. It is anticipated that the region will drive nearly all net global demand growth through the end of the current decade, predominantly fuelled by emerging economies like China and India. Projections indicate that Asia could represent approximately 80% of the global LNG demand growth by 2040.

Long-standing Ties with Asian Markets

ADNOC has established robust historical ties with Asian markets that date back over half a century, having shipped its first LNG supply to Japan. Today, around 97% of the LNG shipments from Das Island are directed towards clients in Asia. With this rich legacy, ADNOC and XRG continue to strengthen their relationships with customers across the region, contributing to energy security and expanding access to a growing portfolio of crude oil, LNG, gas, and chemical products.
