The “Abu Dhabi Sports Summer 2026” is firmly establishing its stature as a leading platform for promoting community sports, fostering a culture of physical activity, and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Now in its fifth edition, this year’s event will run until August 23 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC), with the unwavering support and sponsorship of the wise leadership.
Expanded Scope and Variety of Activities
This year’s event covers an impressive area of approximately “48,000 square metres,” which marks a “26%” increase over the previous edition, making it the largest indoor sports event in the Middle East and North Africa. It features 29 sports and physical activities, including 10 new games, set across more than 70 courts, pitches, and tracks—an increase of 27% in the number of facilities compared to last year. This growth reflects the ongoing evolution of the event’s scale, content diversity, and its ability to attract a broader segment of the community.
A Comprehensive Sporting Environment
The organising committee has created a complete sporting environment within air-conditioned halls, allowing individuals of all ages to engage in various sports and physical activities. This initiative has drawn large numbers of participants, with parents accompanying their children and encouraging them to make use of the modern facilities and advanced sports infrastructure.
Diverse Sports Offerings
The main sports on offer include football, basketball, padel, running, badminton, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, cricket, chess, fitness, obstacle course racing, and wrestling. New additions this year encompass wall climbing, ninja challenges, cycling simulations, golf, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu, mixed martial arts, handball, pickleball, and beach volleyball.
Innovative Events and Community Engagement
Moreover, the current edition has seen an increase in the number of events to over 365 main activities. Highlights include the “Core X Challenge for Fitness,” “Tactical Games,” and the “UAE Special Olympics National Games,” alongside numerous competitions and community programmes. Noteworthy events such as Emirati Women’s Day, World Chess Day, and Emirati Senior Citizens’ Day aim to expand community participation. Additionally, sessions led by experts in health, nutrition, sports medicine, and community health are designed to disseminate knowledge and heighten health awareness.
Strengthening Community Interaction
Sheikh Hamdan bin Saeed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Secretary-General of the Emirates Wrestling Federation, stated that the fifth edition of “Abu Dhabi Sports Summer 2026” represents a significant enhancement to ongoing efforts, supported by the prudent leadership, to instil a culture of physical activity and sports, promote healthy living, and increase community engagement during the event period.
He emphasised the federation’s commitment to participating through training and educational programmes that contribute to the promotion of wrestling and affirm its community role in aligning with national initiatives. He added that the summer activities in Abu Dhabi play a crucial role in attracting diverse age groups, developing skills, and uncovering talents, which aligns with the federation’s strategy.
