As the academic year approaches, students of the Abu Dhabi Scholarships Programme are preparing to embark on their journey to some of the world’s leading universities, equipped with ambition and a clear vision for their future. The “Enhancing and Preparing Scholars Programme” has played a crucial role in their readiness for this pivotal phase in their lives.
Comprehensive Preparation for Global Study
Starting tomorrow, the second day of the preparation programme will commence, designed to equip Abu Dhabi scholarship students for living and studying abroad. Organised by the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi, this comprehensive initiative is conducted in collaboration with strategic partners. It aims to provide students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to navigate academic, cultural, social, and personal aspects of studying abroad, all while strengthening their connection to the UAE’s identity and values.
Building a Supportive Community
The programme gathers 110 students, 19 partners, and 6 embassies to create a holistic experience focused on student success through practical engagement, specialised mentorship, and interactive sessions. Tomorrow’s focus will be on enhancing student well-being, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, and fostering responsible representation of the UAE abroad. Participating organisations include ADEK, the Family Care Authority, and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, with the primary themes of well-being and national identity.
Aspirations and Future Paths
During a recent interview with “Al Khaleej,” several students shared their experiences. Khawla Hamdan Al Jenaibi, who achieved 97% in her high school exams, will soon join New York University in the United States. She emphasised how the scholars programme effectively prepared her for the challenges ahead.
Likewise, Tif Tariq Al Jaaidi, also a 97% graduate, will study economics at the University of California, Berkeley. She expressed her enthusiasm for the scholarship journey and noted that the “Enhancing and Preparing Scholars Programme” familiarised her with various situations she might encounter while studying abroad.
Saeed Al Marzouqi, who achieved an impressive score of 98.2%, plans to specialise in finance at the University of Montreal in Canada. He credited the preparation programme for laying the foundation for his scholarship journey, teaching him how to manage daily life and interact with diverse cultures.
Emphasising Life Skills
Ahmed Zahir Al Shomali, also with a score of 98%, will be attending the University of Toronto to study actuarial science. He highlighted that the programme informed him about living outside the UAE and how to represent the country positively. Leila Al Shamari, who will pursue a degree in public policy at the University of California, San Diego, commented on the programme’s focus on teaching students how to conduct themselves in different communities.
As the programme progresses, it will continue on Tuesday, July 28, with life skills training, including financial literacy and cooking. It will conclude on Thursday, July 30, with a session focusing on the role of family in supporting students during their transition to studying abroad.
