The Abu Dhabi General Police Headquarters has introduced an innovative service called “Smart Booking for Overtaken Vehicles.” This service allows users to request that their towed vehicles remain in their possession and at a location of their choosing, providing added convenience and comfort for vehicle owners.
Service Details and Fees
The smart booking service is available for a nominal fee of 15 dirhams per day for each vehicle. Users can easily submit their requests via the Unified Abu Dhabi Government Services platform (TAM) or by visiting service centres directly.
How It Works
This service utilises a smart electronic device that is installed within the offending vehicle to ensure it remains in the designated spot. The device continuously transmits alerts to the monitoring room, documenting any violation of service conditions.
Eligibility Requirements
To take advantage of the smart booking service, the vehicle must have committed a traffic violation that mandates towing. Additionally, the owner or an officially appointed representative must be present to sign an acknowledgment form agreeing to the service’s terms, along with providing their Emirates ID.
Vehicles Covered
The smart booking service accommodates all types of vehicles, including light and heavy vehicles, trucks, and buses. It covers a wide range of traffic violations, allowing drivers to identify their vehicle and associated fines before proceeding to pay the service fee. Following this, they may transport their vehicle to a customer service centre where staff will install the smart booking device.
