DEWA Invests 7.6 Billion Dirhams in Energy Projects

In an ambitious move to enhance the efficiency of energy transmission, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced investments exceeding 7.6 billion dirhams in energy transmission projects. This major initiative focuses on expanding the infrastructure for electricity transmission, particularly through the establishment of new substations and upgrading existing ones to meet the growing demands of the city.

Expanding Infrastructure for Future Needs

According to the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the projects aimed at enhancing the electricity network will exceed 7.6 billion dirhams in energy transmission investments. The authority plans to implement 49 substations rated at 132 kilovolts and two substations rated at 400 kilovolts. This extensive network is crucial for strengthening the reliability and stability of electricity supply across the region.

New Tender Opportunities

Al Tayer urged main contractors to submit bids for the construction of 11 substations at 132 kilovolts. By doing this, DEWA aims to further expand its capabilities in delivering uninterrupted power to its consumers. These initiatives contribute significantly to the overall investment of 7.6 billion dirhams in energy transmission projects, demonstrating DEWA’s commitment to innovative and sustainable energy solutions.

Future Plans and Enhancements

Looking ahead, DEWA is set to announce new tenders within the next three years for the construction of over 57 primary substations rated at 132 kilovolts. Additionally, the authority will lay down 160 kilometers of cables, significantly enhancing the infrastructure necessary for efficient energy distribution. The strategic investment of 7.6 billion dirhams in energy transmission projects solidifies Dubai’s position as a leader in sustainable energy practices.

The ambitious plans from DEWA not only reflect a strong commitment to modernizing the energy infrastructure but also lay a solid foundation for future developments in the sector. The ongoing investment of 7.6 billion dirhams in energy transmission projects aims to create an efficient, reliable, and resilient power grid that can support Dubai’s burgeoning growth and development.
