UAEs Commitment to Supporting Global Communities in Crisis

The United Arab Emirates is steadfastly continuing its humanitarian mission by developing underprivileged communities around the globe. This commitment is not merely a policy statement; it resonates through various strategic initiatives aimed at improving living conditions and empowering vulnerable populations. The UAE’s dedication to humanitarian and development efforts marks its role as a pivotal player on the world stage, consistently striving to uplift those in need and create sustainable solutions for pressing global challenges.

Strategic Humanitarian Efforts

Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the second meeting of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council for 2025 was convened, focusing on the strategic direction of external aid efforts. The gathering reviewed the 2024 external aid report and discussed various programs aimed at empowering personnel within the humanitarian sector.

His Highness underscored the necessity for collaborative efforts among all relevant local entities to successfully implement a range of humanitarian and developmental initiatives worldwide. This drive is rooted in the UAE’s civilizational mission to continue the path of development and prosperity laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and reinforced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The UAE is determined to maintain its humanitarian message in developing needy and friendly communities globally while addressing pressing development issues through sustainable solutions.

Alignment with Global Development Goals

His Highness emphasized the necessity of aligning the UAE’s humanitarian and developmental programs with the nation’s priorities and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Key areas of focus include enhancing educational opportunities, supporting healthcare systems, combating diseases, eradicating poverty and hunger, ensuring water security, fostering economic growth, and preserving environmental and biological diversity. The UAE’s extensive project portfolio across various continents reaffirms its pioneering role in both humanitarian and developmental sectors.

UAE’s Model of Giving

The meeting highlighted the importance of establishing the UAE’s philanthropic model as a leading example in international aid and development. This model prioritizes the dignity of communities, promotes their well-being, and underscores the UAE’s long-standing commitment to utilizing its capabilities, resources, and relationships to support needy and friendly societies. A collaborative approach with partners aims to create lasting impacts for humanity by fostering innovation and integrating external aid programs to enhance economic opportunities and develop long-term partnerships in international development.

Programs for Capacity Building

The agenda also included discussions on the “Humanitarian Action Foresight Program,” aimed at equipping leadership across various functional levels. This program focuses on building capabilities and enhancing skills by providing cutting-edge knowledge and technological advancements in humanitarian and developmental work. Aligning with national priorities, it enriches the competencies of personnel in donor humanitarian institutions and charities, enhancing their institutional functions and empowering them to plan and execute diverse humanitarian and developmental initiatives globally.

Moreover, the meeting addressed the Council’s support for the Master’s program in Humanitarian Studies at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, reflecting the Council’s objectives to enhance the specialized skills of personnel in relevant humanitarian institutions, notably the UAE International Aid Agency. This master’s program aims to refine participants’ decision-making abilities, manage multicultural teams, and effectively oversee humanitarian business programs while deepening their understanding of development studies and international relations.

Present at the meeting were council members, including the Minister of Community Development, Shema bint Suhail Al Mazrouei; Advisor at the Presidential Court, Faris Mohammed Al Mazrouei; President of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Dr. Hamdan Muslim Al Mazrouei; and Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi.

Through all these initiatives, the UAE continues its humanitarian mission by developing needy communities around the world, reinforcing its legacy of compassion and proactive engagement in global humanitarian efforts.
