In a groundbreaking development, Abu Dhabi Ports has officially launched its first international office in the People’s Republic of China. This strategic move is part of the organization’s efforts to strengthen its international presence and enhance its operational footprint in one of the world’s most dynamic markets. Although located in the bustling heart of Beijing, the office is set to serve a broader region, providing a robust platform for investment and trade activities in both China and Asia at large.
Strategic Location and Operations
The newly established international office is situated in Beijing, the epicenter of policy and planning in China. This prime location allows Abu Dhabi Ports to effectively manage and coordinate its commercial and investment activities throughout China and other parts of Asia. With over 140 offices worldwide, the addition of this office reflects the organization’s commitment to expanding its global reach and impact.
Supporting Local and Regional Partnerships
The official inauguration was attended by several key figures, including Sameer Chaturvedi, CEO of Natoum Logistics and International Operations at Abu Dhabi Ports, Abdul Aziz Zayed Al Shamsi, Regional CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, and Eli Huey, General Manager of Natoum Logistics in Greater China. Through this office, the group aims to enhance communication channels with government entities, strategic partners, leading clients, and investors, thereby aligning its activities with China’s developmental priorities.
Enhancing Logistics and Business Integration
This office will also serve as the branch for Natoum Logistics, Abu Dhabi Ports‘ logistics arm, in the Beijing-Tianjin area, a significant local market with a population exceeding 110 million. Its role is pivotal in solidifying the organization’s presence within China and along the Chinese “Belt and Road” initiative, which links trade routes between Asia, Africa, and Europe via both maritime and land corridors.
Innovative Solutions for Future Growth
In this light, Abu Dhabi Ports plans to use its Beijing office as a strategic platform to connect potential investors and clients with the integrated business and logistical solutions it provides globally. The aim is to coordinate investment activities, establish new business projects, and facilitate the flow of Chinese capital into the United Arab Emirates. Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, emphasized the importance of China as a leading exporter and a key driver of supply chain enhancement, underscoring the objective of sharing mutual growth ambitions.
With projections indicating a compound annual growth rate of 3.5% for China’s GDP until 2030, Abu Dhabi Ports is poised to capitalize on the anticipated growth in the logistics market, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.6% in the same period. This strategic office is set to play a crucial role in elevating the organization’s position in the logistics sector and supporting various industrial sectors across the supply chain in China.
