This initiative is part of the municipality’s active contribution to the “Sharjah Summer” events, organized under the slogan “Our Vacation is Different.” Hosted at the Al Hamriya Cultural and Sports Club, the program aims to foster environmental awareness and promote sustainable agricultural practices among the youth, representing a significant step towards knowledge and skill development in agricultural engineering.
Empowering the Youth with Agricultural Knowledge
The “Agricultural Engineer” program targets participants of varying ages interested in summer activities. It seeks to equip them with foundational knowledge and skills that serve as their first steps into the realm of agricultural engineering. Through hands-on and interactive workshops, participants are introduced to agricultural concepts and the essentials of home gardening, along with scientific yet simplified methods of organic fertilizer production. Participants also learn about local tree varieties, like the Ghaf and almond trees, as well as several ornamental plant species, offering them a realistic experience that delves into the intricate details of the plant world.
Organic Fertilizer Production and Sustainable Practices
One of the workshop’s standout elements includes a practical experience in producing organic fertilizer from recycled household waste. Participants learn the steps to turn such waste into natural fertilizer devoid of chemicals, along with an in-depth explanation of its components, benefits, and significant role in enhancing soil structure, nourishing plant roots, and promoting growth in a healthy and safe environment.
