In a significant diplomatic engagement, His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Chairman of the Committee on Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs of the Federal National Council, hosted His Excellency Marcos Perestrello, the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, along with his accompanying delegation in Abu Dhabi. The meeting focused on strengthening parliamentary cooperation and enhancing coordination in areas of mutual interest.
Parliamentary Cooperation and Coordination
The meeting was attended by esteemed members of the Federal National Council, including Ahmad Mir Hashim Khouri, Dr. Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi, Sarah Mohammed Falkanaz, and Fatima Ali Al Muhairi. Also present was Rowda Ali, the Chargé d’Affaires at the UAE’s Permanent Mission to NATO in Brussels.
During the discussions, the importance of fostering cooperation and exchanging experiences in parliamentary work was emphasised. They highlighted the necessity of developing mechanisms for coordination and communication with the parliaments of NATO member states, which would contribute to broadening parliamentary relations.

Dr. Al Nuaimi reaffirmed the Federal National Council’s commitment to enhancing ties with regional and international parliamentary institutions, actively promoting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in building bridges of dialogue, understanding, and collaboration on shared concerns.
He outlined the UAE’s approach, which focuses on instilling values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace. This includes promoting a culture of dialogue, respecting cultural and religious diversity, and furthering development efforts while upholding the sovereignty of nations. The UAE remains dedicated to political solutions that enhance security, reduce escalation, protect civilians, and achieve sustainable stability.
