Military Court to Prosecute Officials for Abuse of Power

(CNN)— The military public prosecutor of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Hamad Al-Mansouri, has referred several individuals to the military court following allegations of abuse of power. These charges include obtaining unwarranted exemptions and manipulating the verification of national service and reserve duties, as reported by the official Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Allegations of Fraudulent Activities

Investigations revealed that the accused, comprising public employees and enlistees, reportedly forged official documents and medical reports. This misconduct aimed to help certain recruits bypass the legal protocols required to receive exemptions or waivers.

Charges Filed Against Multiple Defendants

The military prosecutor has charged the defendants based on their respective roles in the alleged misconduct. Each charge will be considered in the military judiciary process, as stated by WAM.

Commitment to National Service Integrity

Al-Mansouri stressed that national service is a duty, honour, and responsibility towards the nation. He emphasised that maintaining the integrity of these processes reinforces justice and equality in fulfilling this obligation, protecting national commitments from any potential abuse or exploitation.

Zero Tolerance for Misconduct

Moreover, he asserted the importance of pursuing anyone found to have manipulated the service or exploited their position to facilitate such actions. The accused will face accountability before the military judiciary in accordance with the law.
