The Qasemi University recently concluded the “UAE, Land of Achievement” sports championship in celebration of International University Sports Day for the academic year 2026-2027. The event saw participation from teams and representatives from Qasemi University, Sharjah University, and the American University of Sharjah, with the presence of His Excellency Professor Awad Al-Khalaf, the Director of Qasemi University.
Exciting Atmosphere of Competition
The championship was characterised by a spirited atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and positive competition, fostering communication and connection among participating university students. It provided a platform for them to showcase their athletic abilities in an environment that encouraged teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Diverse Competition Events
The programme included a variety of competitions such as swimming events across different categories, a 2.5-kilometre running race, and a tug of war contest. These activities promoted physical fitness and reinforced a culture of sports participation within the university community.
State-of-the-Art Sports Complex
The competitions were held at the integrated sports complex at Qasemi University, which boasts modern facilities and equipment suitable for hosting various sports events and activities. Opened in April 2026, this complex, developed by the Sharjah Public Works Department, is a significant project that enhances the quality of university life and student programmes.

His Excellency Professor Awad Al-Khalaf stated that the organisation of the championship reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and founder of Qasemi University. His vision encompasses the development of individuals through academic, physical, and value-based education while providing a comprehensive university environment that nurtures students’ abilities and skills.
Acknowledging National Pride and Cultural Values
Professor Al-Khalaf noted the significance of naming the championship “UAE, Land of Achievement,” highlighting the pride associated with the UAE’s developmental and civilisational journey. This title reinforces values of excellence, leadership, ambition, and cultural diversity. He emphasised Qasemi University’s commitment to translating these values into student initiatives that promote sports engagement and positive competition among students of over 140 nationalities within the university community.
Celebrating Success and Commending Participants
At the conclusion of the championship, His Excellency awarded the winners in various events and honoured the outstanding teams and athletes. He praised the exceptional performance of the participants and acknowledged the contributions of the three universities and the efforts of those involved in organising and successfully implementing the championship activities.
