Between October 20 and 22, 2026, the 28th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
A Comprehensive Platform for Sustainability
DEWA has confirmed that WETEX has evolved into a comprehensive platform encompassing a wide spectrum of sectors. These include energy, water, green development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, carbon emission reduction, green mobility, hydrogen technology, and sustainable cities. According to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, and the founder and chairman of WETEX, the exhibition has emerged as a leading venue for fostering partnerships, exchanging knowledge and expertise, discovering business opportunities, and accelerating the adoption of innovative technologies and solutions. “WETEX brings together businesses, government institutions, investors, experts, and decision-makers,” Al Tayer stated.
Adapting to Market Developments Over 28 Years
For 28 years, WETEX has kept pace with developments in the energy, water, and sustainability sectors, as well as the transformations within the markets themselves. The energy markets have expanded to include solar energy, storage technologies, and smart grids, while water networks have increasingly embraced digitalisation and loss management. Buildings have transitioned from merely focusing on efficiency to incorporating broader systems, including automation and smart cities. With each wave of technological and investment shifts, WETEX has broadened its scope to meet market demands and accommodate emerging technologies and sectors.
Milestones in the Exhibition’s Evolution
DEWA highlighted the origins of WETEX, noting that the inaugural exhibition in 1999 focused primarily on water management. In 2001, the energy sector was added, followed by the environment sector in 2004. The emergence of green building solutions and strategies for reducing carbon emissions was featured in the 2008 edition. By 2012, the exhibition had expanded to include clean and renewable energy technologies, as well as smart grids. In 2014, WETEX coincided with the launch of the Global Green Economy Summit, and in 2016, the Dubai Solar Show was introduced, marking a pivotal transition for renewable energy projects in the region from early initiatives to large-scale undertakings.
