In a significant move aimed at enhancing the travel experience in Dubai, His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), recently met with Paul Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Airports. The dialogue focused on strengthening collaboration and coordination between the RTA and Dubai Airports, with the objective of improving traffic flow to and from Dubai International Airport and developing future transportation plans for Al Maktoum International Airport.
Enhancing Connectivity for Residents and Visitors
During the meeting, Al Tayer emphasised that the integration of transportation and aviation systems is vital for maintaining Dubai’s competitiveness as a global hub for economic, tourism, and aviation activities. He highlighted the RTA’s ongoing efforts, in partnership with strategic collaborators, to create a comprehensive and flexible transport network that accommodates the rapid growth in population and visitors while supporting the emirate’s urban and economic expansion.
He further remarked, “Under the vision and directives of our wise leadership, Dubai continues to invest in developing a world-class infrastructure that aligns with its future aspirations and supports its sustainable growth.” Al Maktoum International Airport and the Dubai South area were identified as strategic components of the RTA’s future plans, underscoring their significance within the broader framework of Dubai’s comprehensive development journey.

Paul Griffiths shared insights on the importance of close cooperation between the RTA and Dubai Airports, stating that it serves as a cornerstone for designing a cohesive and seamless travel experience for airport guests. He stressed that the integration of airports with road networks and public transport systems is essential, especially as Dubai enters a new phase of growth. “Our vision involves reimagining the future of travel in the emirate,” he added.
Griffiths reaffirmed the commitment to work in tandem with the RTA to develop a transportation system that is not only flexible but also ready for the future, enhancing accessibility, efficiency, and passenger service standards. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Majid Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Airports, and executives from the RTA, including Abdul Mohsen Kalbat, CEO of the Rail Agency, Moza Al Marri, Executive Director of the Executive Affairs Sector, and Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency.
