In a significant step towards advancing executive education in the UAE, the Executive Education Centre at Ajman University has partnered with the Eller Executive Education Centre of the University of Arizona to launch the “Generative AI Leadership Accelerator” programme. This marks the first introduction of such a pioneering initiative from the United States to the Middle East, aimed at enhancing executive capabilities and preparing leaders to navigate institutional transformations in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
Enhancing Executive Leadership in AI
The memorandum of understanding for this collaboration was signed by Dr. Karim Al-Saghir, the Director of Ajman University, and Dr. Joe Carella, the CEO of Eller Executive Education. The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between the two entities to provide specialized executive education programmes in the field of generative AI, focusing on developing AI leadership capabilities within governmental entities and business sectors.
As the UAE continues to consolidate its position as a global leader in artificial intelligence, the demand for executives who can identify areas suitable for AI implementation, establish governance frameworks, lead institutional change, and ensure that AI applications deliver measurable value is increasing.
A Programme Tailored for the Region
The UAE-specific “Generative AI Leadership Accelerator” programme incorporates the region’s unique characteristics into its content. It features case studies from the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, regional data, and governance considerations. Additionally, participants will engage in a final applied project that reflects their experiences and the realities of their institutions.
Dr. Karim Al-Saghir emphasised, “The impact of AI extends beyond reshaping institutional capabilities; it also influences the nature of decisions that leaders must make. The UAE has set a clear ambition for leadership in AI, which requires leaders to utilise these technologies responsibly and transform strategies into tangible institutional shifts with measurable value. Through this collaboration, we combine international expertise with a deep understanding of regional specificity, contributing to the development of advanced leadership capabilities in AI across various institutional levels.”
Programme Structure and Levels
The “Generative AI Leadership Accelerator” programme is designed with three distinct yet interconnected levels, allowing participants to choose the level that closely aligns with their roles and responsibilities. The AI Strategy and Governance Programme is an intensive two-day executive programme, spanning 12 hours, aimed at senior executives. The AI-driven Institutional Transformation Leadership Programme also takes place over two days and consists of 12 hours, targeting executives and department managers responsible for realising the organisation’s AI ambitions through coordinated institutional change. The AI Application and Innovation Programme lasts three days and comprises 18 hours, focusing on senior managers responsible for transitioning AI initiatives from strategy to execution and achieving measurable operational outcomes.
Justin Dutra, the Senior Director and CEO of Eller Executive Education at the University of Arizona, stated, “The AI revolution is reshaping how organisations compete, innovate, and create value. We take pride in our partnership with the Executive Education Centre at Ajman University to present the ‘Generative AI Leadership Accelerator’ programme in the UAE, characterised by its practical and applied focus. This collaboration merges expertise, research, and insights provided by distinguished faculty members and researchers from both Ajman University and the University of Arizona, equipping executives with practical insights to manage AI strategies and their corresponding institutional transformations.”
Fostering Comprehensive AI Leadership
This partnership aims to provide business leaders in the UAE with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills necessary to lead AI transformation. Together, these institutions assist organisations in moving beyond merely understanding AI to harnessing its capabilities to drive innovation, enhance competitive advantage, and achieve sustainable value.
The “Generative AI Leadership Accelerator” programme is open to individual executives, as well as organisations seeking to build comprehensive leadership capacities in AI at various organisational levels. Participation options include individual registrations, leadership team participation, and tailored groups designed specifically for organisations.
