The NRTC and Naema partnership aims to reduce food waste by 50% by 2030 through data, expertise, supply chain management, food rescue, and support for national reporting.

The NRTC Group, a key subsidiary of Food Holding and part of International Holding Company, has announced a collaboration agreement with the national initiative Naema to combat food loss and waste. This partnership aligns with the UAE’s commitment to halving food waste by 2030, in accordance with target 12.3 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Under this partnership, NRTC will provide data-driven information, operational expertise, and supply chain infrastructure to support the identification, measurement, and reduction of food loss and waste at critical points in the value chain. This collaboration will contribute to food rescue programmes, zero food waste initiatives, and broader efforts to engage various partners in enhancing the efficiency of the food system in the UAE.

Additionally, this partnership will support both parties’ engagement in awareness initiatives, knowledge-sharing platforms, and policy dialogues, enabling NRTC to contribute to national sustainability reporting and impact measurement frameworks.

Khulood Hassan Al Noaies, CEO of Sustainability at Emirates Foundation and Secretary-General of the Naema Initiative, stated: “Our partnership with NRTC exemplifies our commitment to collaborate across sectors and unite efforts to achieve tangible impact on a broader scale, faster. Through this collaboration, we are working together to achieve measurable results, enhance resource efficiency, and reduce loss and waste at the most impactful stages, contributing to Naema’s goals and enhancing food security in the UAE.”

Mohammed Al Rafie, CEO of NRTC, remarked: “This cooperation reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting food security and sustainability priorities in the UAE. Addressing food loss and waste is a fundamental part of improving supply chain efficiency and enhancing resilience in the food ecosystem. By collaborating with the Naema initiative, we aim to leverage our operational capabilities alongside data-driven insights to achieve tangible outcomes for individuals and communities.”
