A recent session organised by the Trends Group shone a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of Emirati women, featuring astronaut Nora Al Matrooshi. The event celebrated her historic selection in 2021 as the first Emirati and Arab female astronaut to join the second cohort of the UAE Astronaut Programme.

During the session, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali, Chairman of the Trends Group, emphasised the significant role Emirati women play in various sectors. He remarked, “The daughter of the UAE has proven to be a genuine partner in building, with a tangible impact in leadership, education, culture, and community work.”
Dreams and Challenges
Nora Al Matrooshi shared her inspiring journey, which began as a dream to become an astronaut when she was just five or six years old. She recounted the rigorous training she underwent at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, acknowledging that the most challenging aspects of her experience were the physical demands and the ongoing psychological pressure.
