The Abu Dhabi Retirement Pension and Benefits Fund has announced that a total of 79,329 women are now registered within the pension system, accounting for 55% of all insured individuals as of the end of the first half of the current year. This significant figure highlights the increasing role of women in various vital sectors of the Emirate.
Commitment to Women’s Empowerment
In a statement, the Fund affirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting Emirati women and enhancing their role in society. This initiative aligns with the prudent leadership’s vision to empower women through a flexible legislative framework that considers various stages of their lives. The approach aims to provide women with necessary insurance protections, facilitating a balance between family responsibilities and professional roles while reinforcing their participation in sustainable development efforts.
Pension System Features Supporting Women
The pension system in Abu Dhabi offers several benefits specifically designed to empower women and ensure their stability. It includes an optional subscription system, allowing women to continue paying retirement contributions during periods of leave for child-rearing or academic pursuits. This ensures that their insurance rights are preserved, supporting their ambitions and enhancing familial stability. Additionally, women with five or more children are granted the option for early retirement, accommodating their family circumstances and providing more flexibility in balancing family and work obligations.
Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Women
The Fund also pointed out that the pension law allows women engaged in freelance professions and entrepreneurship to subscribe to the self-employed workers’ system, providing them with an insurance umbrella that reinforces their financial stability and supports their contributions to Abu Dhabi’s economic development.
Financial Security and Future Assurance
Among the notable advantages of the system is its provision for financial stability and future security for women, ensuring a sustainable financial safety net that guarantees access to entitled retirement benefits. This not only enhances their quality of life but also secures their future. Furthermore, the system continues to support and protect families through a mechanism for distributing pensions according to legal regulations, thus contributing to the financial stability of households and the sustainability of social protection.
Growing Participation in the Workforce
The Fund’s data reflects a growing awareness among women regarding the importance of retirement planning, with 2,151 women having over 25 years of service. Currently, 7,041 women are registered beneficiaries, while 9,557 are entitled to benefits. Notably, 17 women have subscribed to the optional contribution system within the six months since its launch, and 64 have enrolled in the self-employed workers’ scheme.
This data not only manifests the leadership’s focus on empowering women but also cements their essential role as key partners in social and economic development across the UAE.
