Strengthening UAE-Egypt Partnership for 5-Year Wheat Supply

In a significant move to strengthen economic ties between the UAE and Egypt, Abu Dhabi Agricultural Trade Company, known as ADAT, has signed a strategic agreement worth up to $500 million with Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities. This five-year deal focuses on wheat supply and is part of a broader commitment established in 2023, evolving into a long-term operational arrangement supported by the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX).

Signing Ceremony Highlights

The signing event took place at the Egyptian Cabinet headquarters, attended by Dr. Sherif Mohamed Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade and Chairman of the General Authority for Supply Commodities, alongside Khadeem Al Dhary, Co-Founder and Managing Director of ADAT. This partnership aims to guarantee a reliable and sustainable framework for wheat supply, demonstrating how targeted financing can bolster long-term economic partnerships and enhance trade and investment links between the UAE and Egypt.

Commitment to Economic Collaboration

In this context, the Abu Dhabi Exports Office reaffirmed its commitment to innovative financing solutions as effective tools for facilitating trade and enhancing economic cooperation. Their support for ADAT’s wheat supply to Egypt aims to foster greater commercial exchange between the two nations while simultaneously helping expand the presence of Emirati exports in global markets.

Strengthening Food Security

Ahmed Al Suwaidi, the Executive Director of Institutional Affairs and Acting CEO of Human Resources at ADAT, stated that this achievement reflects the company’s capability to fulfil operational commitments and reinforces its sustainability initiatives. He emphasized the importance of establishing strategic partnerships that ensure the consistent availability of essential food supplies for communities and markets, both regionally and globally.

A Legacy of Agricultural Expertise

This partnership leverages ADAT’s extensive experience in supporting large-scale supply requirements through its global agricultural platform, which serves over 40 markets worldwide. The company has maintained a strong presence in Egypt since 2007, operating one of the largest private agricultural platforms in the country, with facilities in Toshka and East Owainat, integrating agricultural production, manufacturing, and supply chains.
