The Sharjah Department of Public Works has successfully completed the second phase of the Victoria International School project in Kalba, covering an area of approximately 19,719 square metres.
New Secondary School Building
This phase includes the construction of a secondary school building spanning 15,000 square metres, designed to accommodate around 864 students. The facility features separate sections for boys and girls, with each section consisting of 16 classrooms, as well as rooms for teachers and administrators, multifunctional indoor areas, prayer rooms, and nursing facilities.
Comprehensive Educational Resources
The new building is equipped with a complete section dedicated to laboratories and educational activities. This encompasses a computer lab, a home economics and cooking training room, two art and design labs, along with multiple rooms for physics, chemistry, and biology. Additionally, there are two libraries, study halls, two conference rooms, and an auditorium.
Sports Facilities and Outdoor Spaces
Alongside the academic facilities, the project features a sports hall measuring around 4,000 square metres. This includes a multipurpose gymnasium designed for a variety of sports activities, as well as a swimming complex comprising two pools—one semi-Olympic, and the other designed specifically for children. Outdoor areas have also been constructed, complete with shaded seating arrangements.
In terms of parking, the project provides 62 vehicle spaces, inclusive of four designated spots for individuals with disabilities and eight equipped with chargers for electric vehicles, in addition to 20 bicycle parking spaces.
Focus on Modern Learning
Bashayer Al Mansouri, the director of the Kalba branch at the Sharjah Department of Public Works, stated that the school’s first phase featured an auditorium with a capacity of 430 persons, outfitted with the latest technology and equipment. It also comprised a primary school building that utilises interactive teaching methods, containing 11 classrooms, teacher meeting rooms, covered playgrounds, sanitary facilities, a multipurpose hall, and an administrative building.
Expansion Plans for Victoria International School
Currently, the Department of Public Works is also working on the establishment of a new branch of Victoria International School in Al Thumama. This comprehensive educational facility will consist of five buildings, which will include administration offices, a medical centre, a kindergarten and Year 1 building, classrooms for Years 2 to 6, a theatre, and a sports complex, marking this as the sixth branch in Sharjah.
