The Emirates Competitiveness Council has announced an important financial support initiative as part of the “Nafis” programme, aimed at enhancing the stability of families with Emirati workers in the private sector. Starting next month, citizens employed in this sector will receive a monthly allowance of AED 600 for each eligible child, with no cap on the number of children. This initiative is designed to help support families and ensure their financial well-being.
Eligibility Criteria for Child Allowance
To qualify for the child allowance under the “Nafis” programme, applicants must meet nine specific conditions. Firstly, the beneficiary must be employed in the private sector, with a monthly salary that falls between AED 6,000 and AED 50,000. Notably, no duplicate disbursement of social allowances for children is permitted. If the husband works in any federal or local government entity, the allowance will not be granted. Additionally, the beneficiary should not be receiving a salary or pension from any federal or local authority, except in circumstances where the pension is inherited from a deceased relative.
Additional Conditions and Provisions
Further eligibility criteria include the requirement for beneficiaries to have an active account with either the Abu Dhabi Retirement Pension and Benefits Fund or the General Authority for Pensions and Social Security, among others, and to have their pension contributions paid for the last two months. Beneficiaries must also not own shares in the company they work for and should not be enrolled in any health sector professionals development programme under “Nafis.”
Special Provisions for Female Emirati Workers
Two specific situations allow female Emirati workers in the private sector to receive the child allowance. The first is if the husband has passed away, and the second is if the wife is solely responsible for supporting her children. In such cases, she must provide a court ruling confirming guardianship, along with documentation proving that the husband is incapable of work or unemployed. This incapacity should be certified by an official medical authority, and verification is required to confirm that the husband is not employed in either the public or private sector.
This financial support initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of its citizens and fostering family stability, thus enabling a more productive workforce in the private sector.
