The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, known as SEWA, has successfully completed the installation of 520 street lighting poles and laid 18.5 kilometres of cables in the city of Khorfakkan during the first half of 2026. The new lighting projects are aimed at enhancing the overall visibility and safety for road users across various areas.
Project Completion Status
The initiatives reportedly include a remarkable 100% completion of the lighting in the neighbourhoods of Al-Bardi and Al-Qadisiyah. Additionally, the lighting project in the Al-Dem industrial area has been completed to 80% capacity, while the lighting for the Wadi Al-Helo tunnel stands at 20% completion. The Al-Dem project is notably ahead, with 90% of its lighting already in place.

These developments are expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the lighting network in Khorfakkan, contributing to a more aesthetically pleasing urban environment. The upgrades are part of a comprehensive plan aimed at bolstering the infrastructure and enhancing public safety throughout the region.
With such initiatives, SEWA continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of life for residents and visitors alike, ensuring that safety and visibility along the roads are at the forefront of municipal planning.
