The “Sajaya Girls of Sharjah” and “Sharjah Youth,” both part of the Quarter Century Foundation for the Development of Leaders and Innovators, have successfully wrapped up their first “Leadership Horizons” programme. This initiative provided a comprehensive leadership experience for the institutions’ members, focusing on transforming leadership skills from mere concepts into practical applications and community initiatives, under the banner “A Generation Leads, An Impact Inspires.”
The programme was designed within the life skills framework at the foundational level of the leadership skills series, specifically targeting participants aged 13 to 16 from Sajaya Girls of Sharjah and Sharjah Youth. It combined interactive workshops, practical applications, and inspiring sessions.
Shaping Future Generations
In her speech at the closing ceremony held at the Sajaya Girls of Sharjah theatre, Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, General Director of the Quarter Century Foundation, emphasised that investing in individuals and nurturing generations capable of contributing to their nation’s future is the core mission of the Foundation. She noted that true leadership begins not with a position but with the individual’s self-awareness, adherence to values, and understanding of their capabilities and potential to create meaningful impacts in their communities.
Sheikha Jawaher highlighted that the “Leadership Horizons” programme was designed to provide participants with a genuine space for experimentation, discovery, and practice. She affirmed that their projects, named “Impact Leaders,” illustrate the skills they have acquired, as true leadership is measured not by our knowledge but by the impact we leave on others and our communities. She also invoked the advice given by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, spouse of the Sharjah Ruler, to the youth about the importance of upholding values, integrity, accountability, and ethics.
The programme name “Horizons” carries a message for participants to continually seek new opportunities for learning, giving, and making a difference, encouraging them to embark on “new horizons with sincere hearts and wise minds.”
Teamwork in Action
The closing ceremony featured a video presentation showcasing highlights from the programme’s journey, alongside displays of the Impact Leaders’ projects, which represented the programme’s culminating practical applications. Participants utilised their acquired leadership skills, planning, teamwork, decision-making, and communication abilities, showcasing a seamless transition from learning to practice, from ideas to impact.
The event included the recognition of trainers, inspiring figures from diverse backgrounds, and youth leaders who contributed to the programme’s success, alongside acknowledgment of partners for their essential roles in the inaugural cycle of the Leadership Horizons programme.
This initiative featured a series of interactive workshops focusing on building leadership identity, enhancing emotional and social intelligence, fostering teamwork, and developing decision-making and problem-solving skills, culminating in skills for presentation and impact creation. Inspiring sessions were led by experts and notable figures who shared examples of Emirati leadership that have significantly contributed to embedding core values in Emirati society, such as effective leadership, wisdom, compassion, and tolerance.
The “Leadership Horizons” programme was launched as part of the Quarter Century Foundation’s efforts to provide unique experiences for youth and girls, enabling them to discover their potential, enhance their skills, and offering them genuine opportunities for exploration and practice, thereby preparing them for the future and instilling in them values of responsibility, initiative, and impact-making.
