The Department of Documents in Sharjah recently organised an engaging dialogue session entitled “Between Generations” as part of the Family Year events. Held at the Al Dhaid Museum of Natural History, the session aimed to foster intergenerational dialogue and enhance the exchange of experiences and knowledge, drawing upon national stories to shape a more integrated future.
The event featured Dr. Salem Zayed Al Tanji, an esteemed academic and lecturer with a rich background in education, training, and scientific research, representing the seasoned generation. He was joined by Mr. Hwaidan Mohammed Al Ketbi, the Chairman of the Central Youth Council, who embodied the aspirations of the younger generation.
The discussion revolved around four main themes, where both guests reflected on the pivotal moments that defined their journeys, the transformation in the realms of education and career, as well as lifestyle changes. They addressed the predominant challenges each generation faces, emphasising the importance of converting these challenges into opportunities for learning and success through intergenerational experience sharing.
Significantly, the session reinforced the notion that core values remain steadfast despite the changing times, highlighting the crucial role families and communities play in embedding these values in successive generations. The event concluded with inspiring messages from both speakers, who stressed the necessity of investing in youth potential and enhancing the synergy between experience and ambition for a more prosperous future.
This session is a part of the community programmes organised by the Department of Documents in Sharjah, reflecting its mission to preserve the national memory and raise awareness of the importance of human experiences. By providing dialogue platforms, the department encourages knowledge transfer between generations while solidifying national identity.
