Dubai Customs Transforms Summer Camps into National Hub

On 9 August 2026, Dubai Customs unveiled a transformative approach to summer camps designed for students, evolving them into a national platform that connects young minds with professional environments. The initiative, referred to as the “Dubai Summer Camp,” has seen the participation of 26 students aged between 15 and 18, spanning a comprehensive 24 days of training divided into two sessions.

Innovative Training Experience

This revamped summer camp aims to align closely with the concept of “Work Placement,” allowing students to engage directly with professionals and gain practical experience. The programme featured 11 training and awareness programmes developed in collaboration with various partners, effectively immersing students in real-world scenarios.

Empowering Future Professionals

Over two separate 12-day training sessions, the camp instilled vital values of responsibility, discipline, and commitment among participants. The initiative not only aimed to bolster their knowledge of the demands of future job sectors but also provided them with insights into the nature of various professions.

Structured Training Pathway

The summer camp was structured in three progressive phases. The first week adopted the theme “I Protect My Nation,” guiding participants through an exploration of Dubai Customs’ mission to safeguard the community and facilitate legitimate trade. This phase included immersive experiences using virtual reality (VR) technology and X-Ray scanning systems to simulate real work processes.

Creativity and Innovation in Focus

Advancing into the third week, under the banner “I Create My Future and Innovate Solutions,” students received training on constructing effective CVs and enhancing their creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. They also learned about the responsible use of artificial intelligence applications, equipping them with essential tools for learning, work, and innovation.

Khamis Al-Mehiri, Acting Director of Human Resources and Dubai Logistics Academy Manager at Dubai Customs, remarked, “This camp represents a significant shift in the philosophy of summer programmes, transitioning from seasonal activities to national platforms for building awareness, skills, and workforce readiness. It provides students with opportunities to discover their capabilities, experience workplace environments, and understand economic needs prior to making their academic decisions.”
