On August 8, 2026, the 13th edition of the “Sharjah Perspective” photography exhibition officially launched at the Photography Pavilion, hosted by the Sharjah Arts Foundation. This annual event runs until November 29, showcasing innovative works that delve into the evolution of documentary photography.
A Showcase of New Artistic Endeavours
This year’s exhibition presents a collection of new artworks from six artists commissioned by the Sharjah Arts Foundation. The featured artists—Louiza Dour, Latifa Al-Bukhari, Satish Kumar, Adam Ruhana, Guanyu Zhao, and Mahider Haile Selassie—explore the potential of documentary photography through a series of interconnected yet unique approaches.
Curatorial Insights and Artistic Exploration
The exhibition is curated by Sarah Al-Mahiri, alongside assistant curators Osimodimen Ikori. Together, they aim to expand the understanding of documentary photography through the artists’ varying experiences with form, material, and modes of presentation. The blend of large-scale prints, installation works, and spatial interventions challenges traditional conventions of photography, inviting attendees to rethink their relationship with images and their interpretations.
A Call to Experience Transformative Art
As the exhibition unfolds, it promises to enrich dialogue around the documentary photographic form, providing a platform for both established and emerging narratives. Visitors are encouraged to engage deeply with the works on display, reflecting on how photography continues to adapt and evolve.
This edition of “Sharjah Perspective” not only highlights artistic innovation but also strengthens the ongoing commitment of the Sharjah Arts Foundation to foster dynamic conversations in the realm of contemporary art.
