In a groundbreaking initiative promoting health and fitness, Dubai Airports has successfully hosted the first-ever “Dubai Molathon,” launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai. This event has uniquely transformed the interior spaces of Dubai International Airport into walking tracks, aligning with the vision of the leadership to incorporate sports and wellness into daily life.
Community Engagement and Participation
The Dubai Molathon kicked off in the departure area of Terminal 3, witnessing enthusiastic participation from Dubai Airports employees, members of the oneDXB airport community, and individuals of determination. The event featured two morning walks, fostering a sense of community and collective wellness.
A Step Towards a Healthier Future
Majid Al Joker, the Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Airports, stated that the initiative has a significant community aspect, encouraging sport and allowing everyone to join in according to their work schedules and daily routines. He emphasised that even the simplest actions can lead to considerable change, reinforcing the airport’s commitment to health and fitness.
Shifting the Paradigm of Sports Initiatives
According to Dhamithan Al Qamzi, the coordinator of the “Dubai Molathon,” hosting such events at Dubai International Airport adds a valuable dimension to the initiative. It allows for engagement with a new demographic that includes not only airport staff but also travellers, showcasing that “Dubai Molathon” has transcended traditional sports initiatives to become a community movement that reaches individuals in their workplaces and everyday lives. This aligns perfectly with the leadership’s vision to position Dubai as the premier city for living and working globally.
Ongoing Activities Throughout August
The Dubai Molathon activities will continue throughout August, taking place weekly every Friday at several key locations within Terminal 3. These gatherings aim to bring together hundreds of employees, airport community partners, and the general public.
Celebrating Emirati Women
The series of events will culminate on August 28 with a special walk celebrating Emirati Women’s Day, inviting members of the oneDXB airport community to participate. This initiative serves to honour the contributions of Emirati women across various fields within the institution and the aviation sector as a whole.
