The advanced satellite, Mohammed bin Zayed Sat, has captured stunning images of Florence, Italy, coinciding with the commencement of the 46th Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) conference. This significant event is being hosted in Florence from 1 to 9 August 2026 and is organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre.

A Gathering of Space Experts

The COSPAR 2026 conference brings together a distinguished assembly of scientists, researchers, engineers, space agencies, academic institutions, and leaders from the space sector worldwide. Participants will engage in discussions surrounding the latest advancements in space sciences, planetary research, space weather, Earth observation, climate studies, and other pivotal topics.

Future Hosting of COSPAR in the UAE

Looking ahead, the United Arab Emirates is set to host the 47th COSPAR conference in 2028, marking the first time this prestigious event will occur in the Arab world. The occasion is expected to attract over 3,000 researchers, experts, and scientists, further establishing Dubai as a global hub for significant scientific and space-related events.

The image captured by Mohammed bin Zayed Sat highlights the historic Fort of Focezza da Basso, which serves as the venue for the current COSPAR meeting, symbolising an important intersection of space exploration and international collaboration.
