The workshop “My Family, My First Story”, held in Sharjah, reinforces family security, parents’ roles, and the development of Arab children’s awareness, empowering them to pass on these ideas to their peers.

Running in parallel with the fourth session of the fourth term of the Arab Parliament for Children in Sharjah, the interactive workshop «أسرتي حكايتي الأولى» opened at the parliament’s headquarters in cooperation with the Child Safety Foundation التابعة لمجلس الشارقة للأسرة والمجتمع.

Researcher Dr Ibrahim Al-Dabal led the session, which focused on the pivotal role of parents in preserving the family’s cohesion and meeting its basic and psychological needs. He also sought practical answers to a question at the heart of the workshop: how can a child improve their relationship with their family, and how can sons and daughters become a positive force within their home environment?

The workshop prompted lively participation and discussion. Dr Al-Dabal outlined the stages of the family’s positive role in building a child’s personality, stressing that a sense of safety and security is the foundation from which young people’s abilities can grow. He also offered explanations and examples highlighting the family’s high standing in society.

Ayman Othman Al-Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for Children, said: “The choice of topic for the workshop, in cooperation with the Child Safety Foundation, stems from our firm belief that the family is the first incubator and the essential pillar for building the Arab child’s awareness and shaping their identity.”

He added: “At the General Secretariat of the parliament, we are keen to equip members with the tools and skills that enable them to pass these positive concepts on to their peers across the Arab world.”
