The municipalities and Environment Affairs are making strides in sustainable waste management with the announcement of a strategic partnership aimed at launching a comprehensive waste management facility in the city of Al Dhaid. This initiative, known as “مشروع الإدارة المتكاملة للنفايات بمدينة الذيد,” reflects a commitment to modernize waste disposal practices across the central and eastern municipalities of the emirate. Through this partnership, local authorities aim to implement global best practices in waste processing and safe disposal, marking a significant shift from traditional waste management methods.
Strategic Partnership Announcement
On Monday morning, the Municipality Affairs Department and the “Bee’ah” group formalized their partnership at Bee’ah’s headquarters. This collaboration seeks to establish and operate a state-of-the-art waste management project that serves all municipalities in the central and eastern regions of Sharjah. The primary goal is to unify the waste treatment system to ensure a safe and efficient disposal process.
Focus on Integrated Waste Management
Engineer Hussain Al Mazmi, Director of Municipal Services Regulation at the Municipality Affairs Department, emphasized the strategic importance of the upcoming integrated waste management phase. “This will be a sustainable step forward, shifting away from traditional methods of waste disposal that characterized past practices,” Al Mazmi stated. This initiative is designed to maximize the benefits of integrated waste management while addressing the pressing need for modern solutions in waste disposal.
Alignment with Vision and Regulatory Frameworks
In his remarks to “Sharjah 24,” Al Mazmi highlighted that this project aligns perfectly with the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The initiative aims to protect the environment and conserve natural resources for future generations. Furthermore, it complies with the nation’s legislative and regulatory frameworks, especially regarding waste management and the rehabilitation of hazardous landfills.
Commitment to Sustainability
This partnership is a testament to the ongoing commitment of the Municipality Affairs Department and Bee’ah to foster a sustainable environment. By establishing the “مشروع الإدارة المتكاملة للنفايات بمدينة الذيد,” they are not just addressing current waste management challenges but are also setting a precedent for environmentally responsible practices that prioritize public health and natural resource preservation.
