Sharjah Social Services Initiates Child Safety Awareness Campaign

In an important move to enhance child safety, the Social Services Department of Sharjah has launched its awareness campaign, “يقظة,” aimed at promoting the importance of vigilant monitoring for children and their guardians. This initiative, characterized by the slogan “We Observe to Protect,” is set to run throughout July in various community councils across the emirate. The focus of the campaign is to ensure that families are equipped to safeguard their children effectively from potential dangers.

Promoting Responsible Surveillance

Maryam Saeed Al-Muhairi, Director of the Knowledge Office at the Sharjah Social Services Department, revealed during a council meeting in the Muwaileh area that the campaign primarily targets children aged 6 to 12, along with their parents. The goal is to raise community awareness about the importance of prevention and child protection from threats such as drowning and issues related to violence and neglect. By emphasizing the concept of “responsible surveillance,” the initiative aims to enhance family awareness, ultimately leading to a safer and more stable home and community environment.

A Comprehensive Suite of Activities and Workshops

Al-Muhairi highlighted that the “يقظة” campaign encompasses a complete package of interactive awareness activities and workshops that will be held in community councils. Additionally, visual content and educational materials will be shared across the department’s social media platforms to elucidate safety practices for families and guide them on how to respond to risks swiftly and effectively. This multifaceted approach is designed to build a well-informed community that prioritizes child safety.

Engagement and Participation Encouraged

The Director of the Knowledge Office emphasized the importance of community involvement, urging the public and parents to visit the community councils and actively participate in the workshops and associated events of the campaign. This engagement will not only provide essential knowledge but also equip families with the skills needed to actively contribute to a safer environment for children.
