Fitch Maintains Robust AA Credit Rating Outlook for UAE

Fitch Confirms UAE Credit Rating at “AA” with Stable Outlook

Fitch has released its latest report, confirming the UAE’s credit rating at “AA” with a stable outlook. This rating is based on a range of positive factors, including strong sovereign assets, financial surpluses, and declining debt, which reflect the institutional stability and high resilience of UAE banks. The rating also indicates the growth in oil revenues, ensuring that the UAE economy can withstand future challenges.

Financial Stability and Surpluses

Fitch confirms that the UAE continues to achieve a surplus in its consolidated budget, expected to reach about 4.5% of GDP by 2026. This comes despite a significant 20% increase in government spending aimed at bolstering recovery programs amid regional tensions. These figures reflect positive expectations for economic growth, as the country continues to build its financial assets and enhance its ability to face potential challenges.

Declining Government Debt

The agency anticipates that government debt will stabilize at 27% of GDP by 2026, representing a significant decrease compared to the average for countries rated “AA,” which stands at 50.3%. These figures indicate the strength of the financial environment in the UAE, where the majority of state-owned debts are held by low-risk entities, thereby enhancing overall financial stability.

Positive Outlook on Institutional Stability

Fitch has awarded the UAE a high score (+5) in governance indicators, highlighting political stability, institutional efficiency, and effective regulatory frameworks. These factors significantly contribute to the stable outlook for the UAE’s credit rating. The agency expressed confidence that these standards will help the country maintain its rating in the future.

Increase in Oil Revenues

Fitch also reaffirmed its expectations for an increase in oil export revenues from Abu Dhabi by 2026, driven by rising crude prices and continued exports through pipelines. These factors enhance the UAE’s ability to maintain a balanced budget, providing stability and the necessary flexibility to adapt to any changes in the global market.

All these indicators suggest that the UAE’s credit rating at “AA” with a stable outlook from Fitch is not just a number, but a testament to the stability and growth the country is experiencing. This boosts investor confidence and market trust in the UAE’s ability to effectively manage its economy.
